I like kits but i don't always buy them. I always like to see some options within kits. Like having an original kit like the pattern is done in, and then being able to see them in a completely different style fabrics, like a civil war version and a modern version. It always lends (me anyway) to a whole new line of ideas and inspiration.

Jenn,  Please send me your information!
Thank you to everyone who entered.

I think kits are good. They take the worry out of how much fabric you need, did I get enough, etc.

I like Wondrour Woven Fabrics on FB.

I love, love, love qult kits. I like that the fabric is already put together for me. I do buy them often. Its usually the fabric that catches my eye and that is the reason I buy not the pattern. Sometims the pattern but most ofter the fabric.

Renegade Quilter said...

Just tweeted about this giveaway. Thanks for the great giveaway. I can't wait to use that ruler.

stefanie said...

I am not a fan of quilt kits. This is probably because I've never seen a kit that had fabrics that I was completely wild about. I much prefer to just buy the pattern and choose my own fabrics.

stefanie said...

I just posted a link to your giveaway on my blog. http://totalcraftaddict.blogspot.com/2011/03/little-birdie.html

I like the idea of a kit but usually don't buy them. I have 2 sitting in my studio righ now. I like to add my own fabric to the kit to change it up a bit.

I think I failed to mention in my first entry that I liked WWF on facebook.

I've liked WW on FB. Also I do love this pattern, very pretty.

I like you on FB, but liked you before.

I have never used a kit, so not sure what I think. Some are gorgous and are tempting. But some seem to be expensive.

I like the idea of quilt kits, but I don't tend to buy them, I find it's cheaper to buy everything separately!

I used to cut kits at a local quilt shop. They can be a real time saver, and once in a while they are fun to use, but I prefer to choose and cut my own stuff. I find I stay more creative that way.

Jen said...

Thanks for the giveaway chances.

I clicked like for Wondrous Wovens on their FB page.

Jen said...

Quilt kits?? I have used block of the month quilt kits before and they are a timesaver and take a lot of the prepping/planning time down to next to nothing.

SingleGirlQuilts said...

I just "liked" Wondrous Woven Fabrics on Facebook (and visited their site and bought some Dr. Seuss fabric!).

I gave a shout out about your giveaway on Twitter and to check out the Wondrous Woven FB page too!

Happy Friday!

SingleGirlQuilts said...

On quilt kits, it depends. I have bought a few kits of Moda Bakeshop projects because I just loved the fabric the project used. I also like the option of choosing my own fabric, so sometimes the kit is not the best way to go for me. It is a fantastic way to buy what you need for a quilt at a (typically) discounted price, something I'm always up for!

nono said...

I've purchased a few kits. I like the fact that it is a project you can just pick up start. The only downside is you do not get to shop for/choose the fabric, which is 1 of my favorite things to do!

Alassel said...

I have checked out the Wondrous Woven Fabric FB page and added it to my like list!

I've never gotten a quilt kit before, though I did pick up two tiny paper-piecing kits at the expo last week. I'd be interested to give it a shot for sure! :)

I've never bought a quilt kit. If I'm picked, this would be my first quilt kit. I usually reproduce the patterns I see from scratch, deciding on my own measurements and picking fabrics from my stash. That means there's a limit on the complexity of the quilts that I produce.

Looking forward to the giveaway I liked theri facebook page

I have never tried to use a kit for a quilt. I would really like to give it a try. I have always worried the directions would be to difficult. I haven't been sewing that long.

I've never used a quilt kid before. But I think they are great. I'm just usually more likely to see a pattern I like and then enjoy the hunt to find the perfect fabric to go with it.

I like the idea of kits. A long time ago, i bought a kit... waited ages to put it together, then messed up cutting the borders. That really stunk. The border fabric wasn't around any more. I guess it was a learning opportunity.

Talin's Corner said...

I no longer purchase kits unless they are small, like for a pin cushion, ornament, etc. The main reason why I do not purchase quilt kits is because I have found that I just did not have of a fabric because I always wash my fabrics and they either shrink/distort and I am left looking for the fabric or adding other fabrics. I still buy quilt patterns, but not kits.

I don't buy kits but have nothing against them - I think they're a wonderful thing if you want to have the exact fabric shown on a quilt, or if you're a beginner.

Thanks for the opportunity - Hugs and Kisses is my fave of the new patterns.

I have only used a kit once and it was a near disaster. The border print was miscut and the fabric was out of stock everywhere. Luckily for me an employee at a local quilt store had some in her personal stash and she was sweet enough to give it to me.

?Kits? Well, it's like a boxed cake mix: it makes it faster and easier to get a good result. Takes out the unknowns and unpredictable elements.. but, there is something inherently rewarding about creating your own recipe from your own head!
Honestly, I've never used a a quilt kit. So, I'd love to try one out!

VeeBee said...

not a blogger or tweeter, but I posted to FB.

I am a sucker for kits. I generally fall in love with the look of a quilt and appreciate being able to reproduce it myself, WITHOUT having to hunt for all the fabrics!

Vroomans' Quilts said...

I don't like to buy kits as I like to choose my own fabrics and tweek my own patterns. I do buy them for my mother as gifts as she has trouble choosing fabrics coordinating with a pattern and this helps her.

Annmarie said...

I think choosing the fabrics is the best part of making a quilt. Kits are OK but I'd rather choose my own fabric. BUT I'd take one if I won one!!! lol

Great question about quilt kits. I have looked at them in the past but don't generally buy them. When buying fabrics to make a quilt I like to buy extra fabric for other things from the same fabrics. Also, I don't always make things exactly as shown and often use other fabrics.
On the other hand, a kit could be perfect if wanting to make the exact quilt seen especially if the fabrics used to make the quilt seen are my favaorite colors.

I love quilt kits. I like knowing what the finished quilt will look like and know I don't have to second-guess the fabrics I choose on my own. I'd prefer all of the quilt top to be in the quilt kit, and fabric selections for the backing and binding provided, so I can purchase it at the same time. Quilt kits are so wonderful! dmj53(at)hotmail(dot)com

I bought a quilt kit only once, for a double wedding ring quilt that I didn't want to cut myself and that was, you guessed it, a wedding gift. I enjoy choosing fabrics myself, so it's not something I do often.

Mary Lou said...

I've only bought one quilt kit so far. I like the idea of not having to choose your own fabric, I'm still unsure of my self in that department. I've just not found a kit that had both the pattern that I like and fabric that I like. But I especially like kits if they are free. :-)

I really like kits but they have to be affordable. The most complemented quilt I've made recently was a Fig Tree kit called Cherry Delight. I enjoyed changing it a tiny bit to suit my style.

I think kits should be offered like this: I pick out a patter (let's say a Jaybird pattern) and tell you what fabric line I want it in. You cut the kit then send it. It's hard to sell a kit where the pattern AND pre-picked fabric appeal to lots of people. Make sense?

I like a lot of quilt kits but not all of them. I think if Im compelled to buy one, of course, I am liking both the pattern and the fabrics used. Sometimes though, you receive a fabric in a kit that you wouldnt have ever selected and it goes perfectly with the others. Sometimes, although I love to choose (and even touch)fabric, you just don't have that kind of time.
