Fall 2013 Quilt Market - Recap #2 - The Tula Pink Edition

I adore Tula Pink's fabric collections in a way that many may think is obsession. I'm OK with that. Her fabric designs are amazing and I love creating quilts with them.

I frequently over photograph her Quilt Market booths.
Tula Pink - Spring 2012 - The Birds & The Bees, Nightshade
Tula Pink - Spring 2013 - Acacia

This time was no exception. At this past Fall 2013 Quilt Market Tula Pink debuted her Fox Field collection.

Tula Pink's booth. I wanted to take it all home with me.

I made this Disco quilt for the Westminster booth.

I loved this little graphic on the floor that called out Tula's Instagram Hashtag.

Tula made my Night Sky quilt for her booth! I checked with Tula and she said that she used "Manatee" as the grey background.

Detail of Night Sky. This quilt and all of Tula's quilts were quilted by Angela Walters.

It was hard to not steal the Night Sky quilt that Tula made. Instead I'll just have to make a matching one for myself!!

More market recap to come in a few days!

Layer Cake Lemonade

The great team over at Fat Quarter Shop has created a new free pattern. It is called "Layer Cake Lemonade" and is the 2nd pattern in their Shortcut Quilt Series.

They asked if I wanted to create a Layer Cake Lemonade quilt to celebrate the release. I said yes of course and this is my quilt!! It came together SUPER fast!

I picked Lush Uptown by Erin Michael for Moda. I knew this line had some large prints that I wouldn't want to cut up... and figured this was the perfect pattern.

Here are some detail photos of those large scale prints!

To celebrate the release of Layer Cake Lemonade... all Layer Cakes are 20% off this week at Fat Quarter Shop!

In addition to the PDF pattern they made a YouTube video too!

Note: I did modify the pattern a bit to control the color placement. Instead of separating it into lights & darks, I created 4 rows of colors. Then I cut my remaining layer cake squares in half and created the skinny rows of color.

Make sure to check out the Jolly Jabber today to check out lots of other Layer Cake Lemonade quilts!

Fall 2013 Quilt Market - Recap #1

I'm home from Quilt Market & finally starting to adjust back to normal life. Here is the first of a few posts to recap.

I was working up until the last minute... including finishing some bindings on the airplane!

I designed some Spoonflower fabric based on my Day Break quilt and made a Staple Dress the night before I flew to Houston!

Friday = Schoolhouse Day

I presented a schoolhouse on the Sidekick Ruler sponsored by Robert Kaufman.

Thank you to Jessica for taking all of the photos for me! You will see I talk a lot with my hands!

I explained how each of the shapes are cut...

...and showed off a bunch of the projects. Here is Rock Candy.

Seaside Table Runner from Botanics Fabrics

Giggles Baby Quilt... and me talking with my hands!

Day Break

Night Sky

This was the first time anyone got to see it in person since I had just finished it a few days earlier!

Then it was Rachel's turn to do a schoolhouse on Quilts Made with Love. I was tempted to take one of those quilts in that giant stack!

Bitsy Baby

Hopscotch and Ribbons

Note to self: Don't sit in the front row next time as it is hard to get photos of the quilts!

The last schoolhouse I attended was for Tula Pink. She was showing off her new collection "Fox Field" that will be in stores in March.

One of Tula's quilts.

Getting good photos here wasn't much easier. Lots of smart phone & iPads everywhere!

Tula Pink herself made MY Night Sky quilt. Honestly I almost cried when she asked me for the pattern so that she could make it from her new fabric! I love it so much that I plan on making one for myself just like it!

Tula also showed off the Disco quilt that I made from her new Fox Field fabric.

I really wanted a good photo of my quilt... so I snuck into the isle to snap a photo... and of course someone snapped a photo of it & posted to Instagram!!

I'll be back in a few days with more Quilt Market photos!
