so a quick post... and back to work for me.
i have another project up over @ the moda bake shop today!
"family traditions" is a project close to my heart... one that my mom started and it has evolved into a rite of passage into the family so to say...
head on over to learn how to make napkins, coasters, napkin rings & a tablecloth
the "tradition" is based around personalized napkins.... there is more to the story that you can read all about in my post on the bake shop.

below are the original napkins that inspired me to create the ones for the bake shop...
"new" people to the family always wonder what it'll take to get their napkin... getting one seems to be like joining the family... married or not.. friends as well...
even rachel wrote me...
"when do i get a napkin with my name on it??? hmmm??? *wink*"
i'll warn ya.. once you start making them it is hard to stop!! but they are super easy & lots of fun.. so try it!!
Enjoy!
i'll be back tomorrow with more "market" stuff!!

Oh my goodness your eyes must be fighting to stay focused! Good luck with finishing everything in time :) I'm sure you will!
What a fantastic project...and a great tradition!! My grandma is going to love this (i'm fowarding her the MBS link) and wish she had thought of it...as it would have solved a lot of holiday drama!!
your mom is a genius...
and good luck getting everything finished...before you head to south texas for all the market fun!!
I love the napkin idea! This is perfect timing for my quilty table - the Moda ladies save the day again :) I'll have to name my table Figgy Pudding Christmas - an Ode to the women of Moda.
And that is way too much binding for me to even think about. Your poor fingers are going to be all bloody after all is done.
Love the napkins! What a great and fun project for the family to enjoy for years to come!
Those napkins are a great idea! Have fun at market!!!
well...when DO i get one???
*kidding*
that's alot of freaking binding.
but yeah...i have alot too.
{my quilts just happen to be smaller.}
I am loving the ones your Mom made too! Although yours are more my style. Wow that is a lot of binding. You can do it! I wish I was going to Market. Can't wait to see and read about your journey.
Good luck with all your binding and other things to finish up. Hope you can get some sleep too!!!
You need little binding elves that come during the night and put all the bindings on your quilts. You know like the shoemaker.
Fun idea...yay for your Mom! But now I have another project to add to my list! The other two quilts I was telling you about that I'd love pics of...they are the first two quilts on Joanna's post on the Jolly Jabber today! Good luck heading out tomorrow!
I have to get you to do binding for me lol
The napkins are lovely very nice
Hugs Janice
Wow Julie, how are your fingers holding up! Be sure to take really comfy shoes as you will be amazed at the walking you will be doing at market! Have a blast!
Thank you for sharing your family traditions with us. The napkins are a wonderful idea.
what a great idea with the napkins!
And I think I'm in love with hunky dory and all i've seen is the sneak peeks on your blog!
Have a great time at market! I really wish I was coming!
I just saw your project over at Moda Bake Shop... just gorgeous! I'm such a soppy sentimental type person that I just love the idea that you had. So wonderful to have the napkins there on display of family members absent or passed away. SPECIAL. :)
