Skip the Borders - Blog Book Tour - My Post!!

Welcome to the last stop on my tour... me!

By now you have had the chance to read many reviews on my book. Developing & creating the quilts featured in Skip the Borders was fun, exciting and also made me a bit nervous. I made most of these quilts 14-20 months ago. It's been amazing to finally share them with you and see your great comments. I feel like this wouldn't be complete without showing you some of the behind the scenes and outtakes. Many of the quilts are traveling around on trunk shows & I wanted to get a few more photos before I sent them off. So I headed down to the beach...

I have to give a big thank you to my dad & our friend Michael for taking all the beach photos.

Pre-Quilt Market Frenzy!

I can't believe it is already October!! Where did this year go?

Things are very busy over here! I'm in the pre-quilt market frenzy. It includes finalizing my new patterns, working with testers, sewing additional samples... etc!

Here is a peek at what I'm working on... and a peek at some of my new patterns!

Plaid Parade in Kona solids just arrived back from Angela. I'll be re-releasing this pattern soon with the addition of size options!

I've been working on a lot of binding, including binding hexagon edges. The plan is to have a tutorial together for you soon!

Lots of sewing!! I just finished an adorable sample using Lucy's Crab Shack by Sweetwater. Those bicycles are just irresistible!

So are you ready for a peek at some of the new patterns??

First up is Science Fair. Random fact but I used to compete in Science Fairs as a kid and won a few metals along the way. The Science Fair shown above features Architextures a new fabric line coming soon from Robert Kaufman. This quilt is super easy to make with the assistance of my Hex N More ruler. I also have one in the works with Kate Spain's new line Honey Honey. (It's what I'm binding in the photos above!)

Next is Traffic! The inspiration for this quilt was... Traffic!! I was stuck in traffic on the 5 and the constant stop and go was the inspiration for the columns! The quilt you see features Valentina a new line from Robert Kaufman.

Lotus is the third sneak peek for today. Cutting the large Lotus blocks is a breeze with my Hex N More ruler. Fabric = Lake Country Batiks by Robert Kaufman.

I'll reveal more about ALL my new patterns soon!!!

Sorry for the delay in updating you on my blog book tour. Monday was a crazy day at the airport and I almost had to sleep overnight in the Chicago airport. It was a long day but I made it home!! I spent yesterday catching up on sleep and recovering from a busy but VERY fun week in Philadelphia. I have lots of photos to share with you later this week.

Shelf Giveaway Winners

Thanks for all your feedback on Shelf. Below is a response from Lauren on the items you found as well as the giveaway winners.

Thanks to everyone who participated, you all have been incredibly helpful.

The biggest issue that people pointed out was a login problem. After we looked into this, we realized that it was an internet explorer bug. We've since fixed this, and now there shouldn't be any issues with logging in. (B. Greene, thank you for clarifying that you were having issues in IE9. That extra bit of info helped us narrow down the problem and ultimately fix it :) )

A number of you also said that it would be nice if you could interact with the site before signing up. We'll be adding in this feature next, so stay tuned!

And the next set of stores on our list are Children's Place and Gymboree.

A number of you asked about Quilt Stores... which although this isn't in the immediate future, it's definitely an idea that we're tossing around. :)

One of you asked for the ability to add in your own personal comments... for example, "Shirt for Dad's Birthday"... This is a great idea! Thank you! We'll be adding this in as well.

And one bit of feedback that we seemed to get a lot was that our instructions for installing the bookmarklet were confusing. We're updating the site tomorrow to include a video for this. And it will be specific for your particular browser, so that you don't have to sift through all of the instructions for each of the major browsers.

I have already set up an account with Shelf!! Even though I prefer to purchase clothing after trying items on, this tool will be amazing if I can wait for sales and price drops. As well, I am not an impulsive buyer, so this tool is perfect to make a Wish List. So far, the site is easy to get around and use!

Pixel Play Blog Tour

Today is my stop on Emily's Pixel Play Blog Tour! Emily is the genius behind Carolina Patchworks. Also today happens to be her stop on my blog tour! :-)
