life cycles quilt!

i've got a new tutorial up today over @ the moda bake shop!

this quilt is super special to me!
i've been working on it for months & surprised my brother and his wife with it right before the baby was born!
{with lots of help from my mom!}

and speaking of my mom...
i hope you are having fun in cali mom!
i miss you lots!

this quilt was inspired by the one i made for my nephew a few years ago

changes
i did a 7x7 layout instead of 9x9
i changed the block size to use pre-cuts
i added the name in the middle & didn't add photos
i did 2 borders instead of one

and if you didn't guess by now...
this is the new block for round #2 of the modern siggy swap!
signups will start tomorrow!

i love binding with striped fabric and cutting it on the bias!
basic binding instructions can be found here.

happy mother's day!
i love you mom
see you soon!!

Very cute - I love the name in the middle. It makes it even more personalized.

Adorable quilt. I will definitely sign up for the swap again. This time I will find a way to sign the blocks so they are legible. I have the worst printing and hand writing known to man.

Great looking quilt!

Also, wanted to tell you: I was home this weekend, with my parents, and my mother and I went into her favorite quilt shop, where we both bought a few things. The shop has a few magazines, and I found Quilts and More with your circle around pattern on the cover! I grabbed it, and said "I know her!" to the shopkeeper, and then explained that I read your blog :) She thought it was super cool.

Also, my mother gave me her old selveges to send to you, so they are all on their way this week!
