wip wednesday... block of the month

so i mentioned on sunday that mom & i had finally started working on our collaborative project...

the moda green piece bom with rouenneries...

well mom got super motivated over the weekend...
and instead of a block... or two a month....
mom got all 20 done!!

now the pressure is on me to get the pieced blocks done!

one of my favs!

for those who haven't seen the quilt...
this is the original one
and we are doing redwork blocks instead of wool appliqué
and we are going to use all french general fabrics!

so my question for you today...

are you working on a bom? or have you?
and did you do one block a month?... or sometimes did they sit & wait... and then all get worked on at once?

hop on over to quilter's daily to join the blog along...
share your bom stories!!

Hi Julie, your Mom did a great job with her embroidery! Kudos to her for getting them all done at once!
I am working on a BOM from Pennington, it's an off set design that I couldn't resist, one more month and it will be done!
I've got a few others to do, just haven't started them!
Have a good week, I'm off to MQX on Monday for a week of fun!

Those are looking great! I love seeing another Mom and Daughter team quilting together. I am working on Rachel's pinwheel sampler with my daughter and we are have a great time looking at each of our blocks.

I am working on a BOM and it has been an interesting experience. I don't want to let many months go by without working on the blocks (4 - 6" blocks per mo). So i'm trying to do two sets every other month. It worked out well in February and I'm hoping this month I can do March and April.

Here is a picture of what it should look like when all is said and done:

I have 2 of my 10 done for FQS designer mystery. In my defense, I started late. I'm also behind on Rachel's pinwheels. :)

Good luck! I love your design idea... I think that is going to look incredible.

Wow...there is alot of talent in your family! Your quilts are going to be wonderful...I really like that pattern you are using as well.

SO long as I still like the BOM I do them as they come in...though I do have one or two sitting in the project cupboard.

The blocks your mom made are incredible. I really need to find the time to do red work. Yeah, you do have a bit of pressure on you. I did a BOM at my lqs a year and half ago. It was a big mistake. I was not fond of the fabric, but thought that was good because if I made a mistake I would not mind. I have yet to make a single block.

I'm a lurker on your blog, but I just had to comment to say I'm so glad you and your mom are making a quilt together! I saw your article about trying to get you mom to quilt, so this is such a nice thing to see! Also, the redwork is going to be stunning with all that Rounneries. I can't wait to see the finished results!

I think it is great you and your mom are doing a quilt together. The redwork looks lovely, and I love Rouenneries.
I have only ever done one BOM quilt and I started it about 10 years ago and it is still a WIP, it will never be finished. I am thinking of using the squares I have completed in other projects.

Granted I have no idea what I am talking about, but what will you do with the tree in the center? Will it be a big red embroidered panel or will it have more colors or applique? Just curious.

I have been doing the Designer Mystery BOM from Fat Quarter Shop. I am a month behind, but I just posted my March block. I went to the Blog Along, but I did not see your prompt post there. Did I miss it??
