Shimmer Blog Hop

I'm a part of Jennifer Sampou's bloghop for her new fabric line, Shimmer, from Robert Kaufman. Shimmer is arriving in stores now and we're sharing some cool project ideas on this bloghop about how to use Shimmer when you bring it home.

Shimmer comes in a some great pre-cuts, like charm packs and roll ups. And I love working with pre-cuts! And I love giving away charm packs (hint hint ;-). Keep scrolling to find out how you can get your hands on one.

The beauty of working with Shimmer is that it's a great fabric line inspired by nature, with just the right touch of modern sparkle. The crew at Robert Kaufman thought it was the perfect compliment to my Day Break pattern. They had a trunk show sample pieced by Ramona Rose and quilted by Angela Walters. They sent it over to me so I could see it and play with it for a while.

Angela's quilting always leaves me impressed and inspired.

The background fabric is Essex Putty.
Day Break is my first full sized quilt that uses both my Hex N More and Sidekick rulers. And there are no Y seams!

Of course, there was some cuddling...

My Day Break quilt pattern is fat quarter friendly (and did I mention there are no Y seams to it!). You could win this beautiful bundle of Shimmer to make your very own Day Break quilt!

Details on how to enter the giveaways are below.

I just saw your quilt featured in Stitch magazine and ran here to your blog. The combination of Daybreak and Shimmer... well, oo, la, la, amazing! I cannot wait to make it. I don't usually duplicate others' works, but this is sheer perfection and could not be any better.

I adore charm packs because it allows me to create with an entire line of fabrics without breaking the bank. I figure someone else has spent endless hours making sure everything coordinates so I can just start from there and skip all the guesswork. Such a practical invention.

Thanks for all your inspiration!

Julie I love your quilts and your blog. You are a quilt inspiration to to me.

The shimmer line is great. I love the neutral tones and of course the wonderful sparkle these fabrics have.

I recently started using 5" charms but I'm an avid postage stamp quilter so I'm definitely a "charmer".

Shimmer makes me just want to sew everything! Your quilt, the cargo bag, the messenger bag, etc. Love those fabrics.

I love charm packs, roll ups and layer cake. It saves me so much time when making scrappy quilt blocks, baby quilts and twin quilts. With having RA, I take any opportunity to skip having to cut lots of blocks from yards of fabric. The quilt pattern looks awesome in Shimmer!

Shimmer is so beautiful! I challenge myself with charm packs to see how far I can go with them or to "play" with when I'm not certain which piece of the line I want more yardage of. Following Jennifer via email. Been hoarding her fabric lines since she was with P&B...Thanks in advance! B-)

Charm packs are one of the first things I learned how to quilt with. I love that they are already cut and they come with all the different fabrics. Without these I would be lost in trying to figure out what looks good. The Shimmer fabric is gorgeous and would look good in a quilt.

I like charm packs because I get to use a variety of prints from the same line in a quilt. I am in the process of designing an art deco quilt for a wedding present and I think some shimmer would bring a bit of bling to it.

Charm packs, charm the senses, are coordinated fabrics that tickle your creative fancy and each one stirs a different creative idea in each of us!

Charm packs are great for making quick baby quilts.

kzarling said...

Charm packs are great because you can sample all the fabric from a line at a reasonable price, and there's enough fabric there to do some paper piecing, accents or focus pieces on a large quilt, or a mini quilt - which is now my favorite thing to do with a great charm pack collection.

Unknown said...

Your Shimmer collection has a modern, but not overly "in your face" sort of mixture. I love muted tones, but also love the modern looks. Charms are so fantastic, because no cutting, or minimum cutting.

Thanks for the chance.

Charm packs are accurately cut and can be used "as is" or modified by cutting. I like "wonky", modern styles, and would love to use Shimmer in a modern quilt. The colors in Shimmer are tantalizing, almost in a batik-sort of way.
