Giveaway Week - Quilt in a Day

disclosure: this is a sponsored giveaway by Quilt in a Day

Welcome to giveaway week!
Friday's giveaway is sponsored by Quilt in a Day

I'm really lucky that Quilt in a Day is down the road from my new house!!  In addition to Eleanor being quilting royalty... the shop itself is fun, bright and filled with lots of yummy fabric.  Starting in January I'll also be teaching at the shop!!  More info to come... but today it's all about the giveaway!

Quilt in a Day has adapted 12 Kansas City Star Blocks into a Free Facebook Block Party called Treasure Chest.  Every month, you can download a new fully illustrated 16" finished block pattern for free.  They are currently on their first block, Pineapple.

It's easy to download, simply go to Quilt in a Day on Facebook... and "like" the page.
Then look on the left side under Eleanor's Picture & click on Treasure Chest Quilt.
{In addition to being a free BOM there are prizes too!}

I was able to get my hands on one batik kit with over 14 yards of Fabric!! The kit has a value of $150.00 and soon will belong to one of you!  {I'm kinda jealous to be honest!}

When I first watched Eleanor, I thought she was a little crazy, she called her pins, "magic pins." Riiiiight. But when I was interested in quilting, my mom would watch the technique on the show, she'd try it and then teach me. Eleanor does make it seem easy and she does a WIDE variety of quilts, not just one style or fabric.

I attended the Quilt-in-a-Day teacher's training many years ago and had a ball! We had a lovely graduation dinner at Eleanor's home, complete with Pomp and Circumstance and a diploma. And I AM a quilt teacher now!

What an incredible giveaway! What I like about Eleanor Burns is that she has stayed true to her mission statement of 'teaching new quilters' or something like that. I think she has been truly innovative in making quilting accessible and unintimidating to new quilters, and keeps quilters loyal to her because we know her projects come together quickly when we just don't have the time or brainpower to a fiddly, detailed project. Really, what's not to like about Eleanor Burns? I immediately felt welcome when as a complete novice sat in on video class and her inclusive manner entertained and instructed me and kindled a love of quilting that has since grown into a full-fledged passion. She is a nurturer of a tradition that encompasses womanhood in such a beautiful way. I think she is an all-time classic quilter and teacher. My hat is off to her and I owe her a debt of gratitude.

Since I'm new to quilting, this is the first I've heard of Eleanore Burns, but I'll definitely be checking her out because of all of these great remarks and reviews from previous posters! Again, thanks for the giveaway.

I visited the Quilt in a Day shop in Paducah, KY last April. I was struck by the business empire that Eleanor Burns has built.I was very impressed with the way things were organized and how every detail was addressed. A friend makes quilts regularly from Eleanor's books. They are stunning. Good luck with your teaching at Quilt in a Day in California!

Wow! what a fabulous giveaway. I have never met Eleanor Burns in person but I have watched several of her videos she has produced. I love how she throws the scraps of fabric she has just cut over her shoulder. No worries.:)

wow, what an amazing giveaway. I like to watch QID on saturdays, I get to sleep in late and then watch sewing shows on PBS. It's great for me because I don't know anyone who lives near me who quilts, so I love learning new things

Ms Burns television show was the first quilt program I watched and it gave me the idea that I could make a quilt,too! That was back in 1994. I've made many quilts since then. Thank you Eleanor!
