linda's quilt

my mom is incredibly lucky to have a wonderful group of friends.
this specific group of women has been getting together for birthdays.. holidays... and so on for as long as i can remember.  they call themselves "the valley girls" after where we live.
so when my mom found out... that linda.. was diagnosed with breast cancer... she was in shock.
after the shock wore off my mom decided she wanted to do something for linda... and asked if i'd help make a quilt.

so a bit of planning... and coordinating 7 people's schedules...
and we have linda's quilt

the 7 squares with white centers are each messages from the other 7 valley girls.
here is a closeup of my mom's

it's backed with snuggles and i used kona in tomato for the binding

started on 6/23/10

Many blessings to Linda. My sister Tammy is an Ovarian cancer survivor. She has gone in and out of remission for 13 years. We will keep Linda in our prayers. The quilt is beautiful and I am sure it will be an inspiration to her. Life is all about the relationships we have and the love that we share with those around us. Remember that God has us each where he wants us to be each day.

Beautiful and most wonderful idea. I'm sure that snuggles will be so nice when she's feeling horrible - and all those notes will help with the battle for sure. Prayers for her as she starts that battle.

How poignant. It's a beautiful quilt and I hope and pray Linda wins the battle. She is already blessed to have friends such as these.

We did the very same thing for my best friend, Sue, when she was going through her therapy last year. She took that quilt to every treatment and was comforted by being wrapped up in the love of all her friends.

What a wonderful gift for Linda! I know she'll find lots of comfort in it during her treatment.

P.S. I've been wondering about the snuggles fabric. Did you like working with it?

There is something even more wonderful than that quilt - Linda will remember that she is loved and supported by people who truly care about her every time she looks at it! My mum is a 7year survivor. I wish Linda all the strength she needs to kick this disease into oblivion!!

What a wonderful gift!
My aunt is a breast cancer survivor and next year I hope to make a quilt that she can raffle for her yearly charity drive for bc research.
My hope is that Linda kicks this thing in the butt like my aunt did. And my grandma. And great aunt. And many others.

Best wishes to Linda!

We are very grateful for each others friendship,as is so well displayed in my Julie's creation of Linda's future heirloom quilt. Simply, a labor of love. Thanks again to this amazing quilting community for wrapping us all with hope!

My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at 38 and passed at 42, so I have personally seen what the love and compassion of dear, dear friends can do to make the journey less lonely. May God bless each of you as well as Linda. Kristy in Ohio
