castle peeps new wave quilt

some fabric... you get it & you look at it for a while
afraid to cut into it... so it just sits on the shelf...
and then other fabric... just screams to be cut into

for me..
that was castle peeps
by lizzy house for andover

a few months back elizabeth @ oh fransson posted her new wave pattern
and i wanted to make it...
but no fabric yelled out to me {plus i didn't want to make the template}
then monica aka happy zombie made a smaller one with a dresden ruler
hmm i thought.
still i didn't make one..
i was inspired again...
{ it also didn't hurt that elizabeth posted this addition to the pattern }

so castle peeps + new wave = this!

blocks all on the floor... i decided on a "color wave"

it's amazing how much length you loose one the seams are sewn

and like that i was done!

close up of the quilt... since my toes aren't that exciting

most of my seams line up

a few didn't.. but not enough to take them out

oh... and i didn't have the "fat cats" ruler by Darlene Zimmerman..
but i do have her 30 degree triangle ruler..
and that's what i used to make my quilt...
it's a bit more of an angle... but i like it!

I love those Castle Peeps (why oh why did some random bunny have to chew expensive wires in the car again?!?) Yea, my fabric $$ was spent on car repairs.

sad day.

Especially when you show me things like this.

Happy day for you though. :)

It looks fabulous, Julie. I really love your color gradation. I wanted to use a bunch of colors in my New Wave, too, but I'm a little dissatisfied. Just a little. I'm having a hard time resisting the Castle Peeps. They are just so marvelous, and they totally appeal to the medievalist in me! Now I'm tempted (again) to make a smaller New Wave with them!

That is really fun. I love the color wave and I know I would not have thought to do that!
That is very clever and I do have the Fat Cat ruler--hmm.... I have other things I am supposed to be sewing... it will have to wait.

Wow! You have me very inspired! Beutiful layout. Have you tried Roxanne's glue? I highly recommend for perfect piecing.

I like it! How much yardage did it take a fat quarter or more of the castle peeps?

I like the fabric choice! A Lot!!! I made this too and found that if I made 2 they would work on my table as a double place mat. Still working on the 2nd one though. I am trying to decide whether or not to square it up and cut off the points. At the moment I am thinking no, what do you think?

Awesome inspiration! I just ordered my Castle peeps and have absolutely no plans for it! This is great though!

Love it! Great pattern choice for all the different colors of Castle Peeps. I *so* want this line, but I have put myself on fabric fast until August and have already broken it to get some FFA II. Anyways, it is awesome!

I'm going out on a limb right now and say that to this point Castle Peeps hasn't called out to me. Eeek! Did I just really put that in writing?

However....I'm a big fan of Elizabeth's New Wave quilt, have the ruler, and have completely changed my mind about Castle Peeps.

So, Julie, now that I HAVE to purchase some more fabric thanks to you, can I just send you the bill for it??

Beautiful & colorful wave! Love it! Mine is on hold since I ran out of Kona Coal for the small strips... (must have used top much on my dots quilt).
Always meant to ask - and maybe you have already answered it in a post, yet here it goes: what sewing machine do you use?

What a perfect pattern to use for the fabric! I keep restraining myself from buying any, but I might not be able to resist much longer!

Will you hate me if I copy you? I have some Castle Peeps waiting to be cut into and this is absolutely perfect for it!

I love the color wave idea! It looks really sharp. Nice use of castle peeps.

I have seams that don't line up sometimes, too. And I ask myself, "Which is worse? Being irritated at having to rip out the seams, or being irritated that they don't match exactly?" And the seam ripper stays in my drawer. And no one ever notices... ;)

BY FAR my fave New Wave Quilt. I LOVE IT!! Lizzy's fabric and Elizabeth's pattern are a match made in, well... jaybirdland. I'm seeing an additional Castle Peeps purchase in my future - and even though I've already made a New Wave Quilt... and I've been planning a second one... now after seeing yours... a THIRD one is in my future!

Tempting to put all aside and 'whip' up one of these...
But alas, I have gifts to finish and miles to go before I sleep.
This has made it to the 'To Do' list... Need to save the pattern... Thank you for the link and the wonderful photos!
Thank you for the inspiration!
