Sweet Tooth Block 10 - Candy Corn

My Sweet Tooth Block of the Month books are available now at local and online quilt shops! Since the book is out now, I wanted to share some inspiration for anyone looking to make a Sweet Tooth quilt.

Sweet Tooth can be made in twin or queen sizes. This quilt is made using my Hex N More and Super Sidekick rulers.

If you will be making your Sweet Tooth quilt from one of the Robert Kaufman Kona quilt kits (available now!), all of the strips in the roll up are in block order. Also, all of the Kona colors used in each block are noted in the Sweet Tooth book. This photo shows the fabrics that are in Roll 4. (The rolls are marked.)

To make Block 10, you'll use Kona PomegranateKona WatermelonKona PunchKona Nectarine and Kona School Bus:

I'm making a Sweet Tooth quilt using Tula Pink prints. Here are my Candy Corn blocks in Tula Pink:

Kits featuring the Kona Cotton solids I used to make the twin size quilt are available now. Kits include the Sweet Tooth book, 60 Kona Cotton 2 1/2" strips + all of the background and binding fabric to make the quilt.

Quilts For Pulse

I've been doing a lot of charity sewing this summer to send quilts and blocks to the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild and the Dallas + Fort Worth Modern Quilt Guilds to support #QuiltsForPulse & #QuiltsForPeace.

Here are the first Quilts For Pulse blocks I made. The pattern to make them is available here

As I continued to sew, I wanted to make some rainbow striped blocks:

Here's the instructions to make the striped heart blocks:

This is my progress during one day of sewing the first quilt top I made for Pulse. Love was my motivation:

This is the quilt label and pieced backing I made for the quilt:

Fabric donations came in from Robert Kaufman Fabrics and batting donations from The Warm Company:

This Bright Remix Stripe by Ann Kelle for Robert Kaufman was perfect for the binding! Teresa of Quilting is My Bliss generously donated to quilt this quilt:

I love binding with Wonder Clips by Clover! My awesome mom helped with binding all of the Quilts for Pulse that I coordinated finishing.

Here's my first finished Quilt for Pulse that I sent off to Orlando this week:

I hosted a group of San Diego Modern Quilt Guild members & some sewing friends for an afternoon of charity sewing in late June. Here we are working on our first quilt top of the day:

Katie put this diagonal rainbow layout together for our second quilt top of the day:
These 2 quilt tops were finished on that Saturday afternoon, along with lots of extra blocks to make an additional quilt top & then some:

Here's the third quilt top that was finished using the extra blocks from our charity sewing Saturday:

I had all 13 women sign a piece of white paper & then I scanned that paper to create this label for the back of the quilts we worked on together. I made the label & printed it using my Spoonflower label tutorial.

Three generous California quilters offered to quilt the quilt tops, Patti, Janice Ryan of Better Off Thread and Carrie Hanson of Gotcha Covered Quilting.

--

After making 4 quilt tops, I had a lot of extra half square triangles (HSTs) left over. So I made this #BigHeartBlock tutorial to use up the HSTs and make one more quilt top!

My Big Heart Block quilt top is off to Teresa. That will be 5 charity quilts, + 36 blocks to Orlando & 10 blocks to Dallas, that I made or contributed to this summer to help those in need of some love and healing.

If you'd like to contribute to #QuiltsForPulse, check out the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild's post for what to make here and where to send blocks, tops or finished quilts here. You can find info on #QuiltsForPeace by the Dallas & Fort Worth Modern Quilt Guilds here.
