Next up is Firecracker!
I mixed a few fabric collections in making this quilt. Often I stick with one collection at a time... so it was really fun for me to let loose on this one!Treasures & Tidbits by Piece O' Cake Designs

Here is the back cover
Next up was this fence.... with a curve to the top of it.
This shoot went ok... but not great.
By the end of it the wind was picking up fast.
I was photographing a few quilts this day and didn't want to put any of them down on the ground because of the snow. After I snapped a few photos I tossed the quilt on the fence for safe keeping. For some reason I took this photo & I love it.
I did try taking a few photos inside... but in general setting up artificial light is much harder than using natural lighting. This photo does show the cool quilting Angela did.
I use this fence in a lot of my photos... so I figured I'd try it for this quilt. The wind was really strong and getting a good photo was almost impossible.
The quilt was moving so fast that in many of the photos it is just blurry.
I liked how this photo shows the back... but felt like it covered too much of the front... but it did give me an idea of what I was looking for & inspired the eventual cover photo.
I waited till the next day when there was less wind... better light... switched camera lenses & got the right shot! Being patient with photo shoots is still a lesson I'm learning, but I know it's worth it to get the right shot.

It's so pretty Julie! Love that you shared the outtakes and love the quilting.
Love the windy pics! Makes that quilt look as full of life as its fabrics. :D
I also love the quilting that you chose for it. Very pleasing.
I admire your persistence in trying so many different places and times to get the right shot!
I love that you share the process of getting 'just the right photo' it gives me a whole new appreciation for how much much time & effort goes into this process! Love Firecracker too!
Such a fun use of a simple block! Very lighthearted and the name you chose is perfect!
I love having suggestions for fabric choices on a quilt pattern, too. I think it's really helpful! One of the first things I noticed about the quilt was how much I liked the colors.
Another great quilt, Julie!
In that second picture, against the fence it just looks fantastic, so bright, the white contrasting so well with the colours :-)
Very nice colors in this quilt! Love it! I am learning from your outtakes shots - thanks for posting! Do you just photoshop out the clips you use to hang up the quilt?
Great quilt idea! You are a firecracker! Thanks for the photo journey, that was fun.
All your pics look great! I'd love to see you post tips for photographing quilts. My pics always look like crap and I'm so jealous of yours.
I really love this quilt so much!!! It will look really great in O.F. if you know what I mean....
Even the outtakes are gorgeous. It's such a fun quilt.
Julie, I`d like to buy some patterns AND the ruler! Are you going to sell the ruler too?
I think this is my favorite of the new patterns. I love that you do thoughtful things with your patterns like suggestions for fabrics (and the sizes on the other one).
And I love that you have issues photographing too. I took my monochromatic out for a photo-shoot and you'd think I had a supermodel in front of my with how many shots I took and how many times I repositioned it!
Love it Julie, especially how it shows the beautiful fabrics. I'm not enjoying cutting up some of the gorgeous fabrics out there these days. Great design, keep up the good work! ;)
Hi Julie1 I just love Firecracker! What a great way for using up some pretty scrap fabrics. It sure looks cold there- it is still hot here "across the pond", we have just entered Autumn (Fall) but the weather must have forgot. :)
I love all the quilt patterns that you have for sale...I'm actually trying to decide which one to buy, but I'm having trouble narrowing it down :-P
Hi Julie....I am so anxious to get these patterns.....can I get them and the tool through you??
I love all the photos Julie and the blow by blow description of what it takes to get the great photos on the pattern cover. And of course the ruler, its just nagging at me now!
Your designs are so great, the fabrics on this one are fantastic, a perfect combination. Getting pics can be fun hey.
Another vote for posting on how you take your pics--they're great! I really like the impromptu pic you were smart enough to capture too.
What a great design! It has such an energetic feel :)
Gorgeous Julie! I can see that angle ruler is very fun.
Well, this is a pattern I am definitely going to buy. I love the motion it conveys. It's a nice change from squares and rectangles. I'll keep checking to see when you add it to your store. Kathie L in Allentown
I love your quilt! It's so bright and cheery!
Love it, Julie! Now, which fabric on the quilt is Kona Crush?
Deborah,
The white is kona crush.

This is my favourite. I have to say I like this a lot. Might have to try it when the skill comes up!
I really like this newest quilt. My favorite pattern at this time for fat quarters is the Whales. It looks to me that the new pattern is also good for fat quarters.
