I took some process photos to share with you when I made the quilt last summer.
Picking the Kona colors for the quilt.
Then it was time to select thread. My general rule of thumb is to always sew with a medium gray thread. That being said, if I am sewing large areas with similar colors, I will change my thread when piecing to reflect those colors.
For this quilt I pieced the blocks with 6 different threads to best match to the six color families. I used the same thread to sew the color family rows together. Then I sewed the sections together with a medium gray thread.
First 3 rows are complete. I also made a mini 1/4 scale quilt at the same time.

I have recently used Navy blue a lot.
I love them all but if I had to pick one it would be gray. My friends would be shocked, they think I would choose red. The Kona gray is a lovely clear gray that goes with anything and I need some for my next quilt. Not as easy to come by here in NZ but I found some😀

My favorite Kona color is RED! Love it!
I love using Kona solids! Lately I have used Ash as a background fabric and the results are beautiful. My favorite color is the color of the year for 2017 Flamingo Pink. I can not get enough of Flamigo Pink. So far I have used it in 3 quilts and I used it for binding on another quilt.
Ohhhh...lovely quilt! Can't pick a favorite, though I do love the yellows. But, I use a lot of Kona grays.....like steel.
I seriously have to pick just ONE color?!? Impossible! lol! Anything in the blues would have to be my main color these days but I LOVE them all!!!

I think my favorite color would be the Turquoise, but that doesn't mean it is the color I use the most! I love Kona for the variety of neutrals!

I love just about all colors with few exceptions. I am drawn to the teal/aqua colors due to my love of the Caribbean so my Kona faves would be such colors as Jamaica, Malibu, Astral, Ultra Marine.

Rock Solid looks like it has a lot of great options. I like working with and looking at color graduations. Kona colors I like are celestial, peridot and berry. Thanks for doing a give away!
