some fabric... you get it & you look at it for a while
afraid to cut into it... so it just sits on the shelf...
and then other fabric... just screams to be cut into
for me..
that was castle peeps
by lizzy house for andover
a few months back elizabeth @ oh fransson posted her new wave pattern
and i wanted to make it...
but no fabric yelled out to me {plus i didn't want to make the template}
then monica aka happy zombie made a smaller one with a dresden ruler
hmm i thought.
still i didn't make one..
but after seeing elizabeth's in person at market...
i was inspired again...
{ it also didn't hurt that elizabeth posted this addition to the pattern }
so castle peeps + new wave = this!
blocks all on the floor... i decided on a "color wave"
it's amazing how much length you loose one the seams are sewn
and like that i was done!
close up of the quilt... since my toes aren't that exciting
most of my seams line up
a few didn't.. but not enough to take them out
oh... and i didn't have the "fat cats" ruler by Darlene Zimmerman..
but i do have her 30 degree triangle ruler..
and that's what i used to make my quilt...
it's a bit more of an angle... but i like it!

I think the use of castle peeps for this type of quilt was a great choice...it looks absolutely wonderful!!
I love it. I think you were right on in waiting to use that bundle for this quilt. I love the color gradation. Awesome!!!
That is th perfect pattern for that fabric!
This is fantastic! I never thought to use Castle Peeps in a ROYGBIV kinda way. Perfect!
Clever use of this fabric Julie. And I love the color gradation, it really makes this quilt stand out. Mine is still sitting awaiting me.
OH my gosh this is beautiful!! What a great way to use the material!
I love those Castle Peeps (why oh why did some random bunny have to chew expensive wires in the car again?!?) Yea, my fabric $$ was spent on car repairs.
sad day.
Especially when you show me things like this.
Happy day for you though. :)
Love that quilt!! That fabric looks awesome it that pattern. Makes me want to try it. Now to get some of that fabric!! :)
this is so beautiful ! my 5 year old 'princess' grandaughter would love it ! the way you did the colors is what makes it so nice ! good job , AGAIN !!!
That is adorable! I love the Castle Peeps with this pattern. I have been looking at the new wave pattern also and also keep thinking I need to make a template.
oh my goodness i love this...it looks so amazing in color order like that.
So cute. Love the way this pattern showcases that great fabric.
You hit the nail on the head with this pattern for this fabric! It's spectacular!

It looks fabulous, Julie. I really love your color gradation. I wanted to use a bunch of colors in my New Wave, too, but I'm a little dissatisfied. Just a little. I'm having a hard time resisting the Castle Peeps. They are just so marvelous, and they totally appeal to the medievalist in me! Now I'm tempted (again) to make a smaller New Wave with them!
That is really fun. I love the color wave and I know I would not have thought to do that!
That is very clever and I do have the Fat Cat ruler--hmm.... I have other things I am supposed to be sewing... it will have to wait.
Drat.

What a great use for Castle Peeps... I love it!
So cute! I haven't found that perfect project for Castle Peeps yet but... it is fun looking.
PERFECT use for the fabric....love IT! Now...will i ever be brave enough to try that wave...???? :0
Wow, that's awesome looking! Great work! :)
Wow! You have me very inspired! Beutiful layout. Have you tried Roxanne's glue? I highly recommend for perfect piecing.
I like it! How much yardage did it take a fat quarter or more of the castle peeps?
I like the fabric choice! A Lot!!! I made this too and found that if I made 2 they would work on my table as a double place mat. Still working on the 2nd one though. I am trying to decide whether or not to square it up and cut off the points. At the moment I am thinking no, what do you think?
Awesome inspiration! I just ordered my Castle peeps and have absolutely no plans for it! This is great though!
beautiful! I love the color gradation! Such a fun way to display all the different fabrics.
Love love love this. A great way to display the prints in this collection. I have to own it now.
Love it! Great pattern choice for all the different colors of Castle Peeps. I *so* want this line, but I have put myself on fabric fast until August and have already broken it to get some FFA II. Anyways, it is awesome!
i LOVE this - but I think I would have been afraid to cut into fabric that amazing!!!
I recently purchased some castle peeps, but haven't figured out what my layout will be yet. So nice to see what others have started to do with this fabric. Your quilt top is gorgeous, I really love all the colors, great way to use the whole collection. Love it!
Looks Awesome!!!
Ok already!! Everyone in blogland has now convinced me that I NEED to buy all the Castle Peeps I can afford. Your quilt looks great!!!
Oh wow! That is a cool quilt! Makes me can't wait for my Castle Peeps to get here!
I'm going out on a limb right now and say that to this point Castle Peeps hasn't called out to me. Eeek! Did I just really put that in writing?
However....I'm a big fan of Elizabeth's New Wave quilt, have the ruler, and have completely changed my mind about Castle Peeps.
So, Julie, now that I HAVE to purchase some more fabric thanks to you, can I just send you the bill for it??
Very cute! Love the colors! :-)
Beautiful & colorful wave! Love it! Mine is on hold since I ran out of Kona Coal for the small strips... (must have used top much on my dots quilt).
Always meant to ask - and maybe you have already answered it in a post, yet here it goes: what sewing machine do you use?
oooh, I love it! That fabric is just perfect for the waves. Kind of like banners!
Totally want to copy copy copy this!
So cool! Castle peeps is cute in this pattern.
Castle Peeps seems to be made for this pattern.
Love this! The Castle Peeps line is just perfect for this pattern... you have my address, I'll be waiting...
Oh I love this!! Beautiful :)
Perfect mix of pattern and fabric...didn't realize this was such a small quilt...think I am going to have to make this!
I think Lizzy would be very proud of how you've presented her fabric. Lovely!
such a pretty quilt!! and a perfect design for the castle peeps!! LOVE it!!
I love it! What a great way to use the particular bundle that you had, too. You are amazing!
Just Fabulous!
I didn't think I needed that fabric.
I do.
Thanks pal. I'm going to have to eat bread and water for the next few weeks! =P
Love the quilt! Just love it!
What a perfect pattern to use for the fabric! I keep restraining myself from buying any, but I might not be able to resist much longer!
Will you hate me if I copy you? I have some Castle Peeps waiting to be cut into and this is absolutely perfect for it!
I love the color wave idea! It looks really sharp. Nice use of castle peeps.
I have seams that don't line up sometimes, too. And I ask myself, "Which is worse? Being irritated at having to rip out the seams, or being irritated that they don't match exactly?" And the seam ripper stays in my drawer. And no one ever notices... ;)
AWESOME, Julie!
What a wonderful project! Love your fabric selections!!
BY FAR my fave New Wave Quilt. I LOVE IT!! Lizzy's fabric and Elizabeth's pattern are a match made in, well... jaybirdland. I'm seeing an additional Castle Peeps purchase in my future - and even though I've already made a New Wave Quilt... and I've been planning a second one... now after seeing yours... a THIRD one is in my future!
ooh!! thumbs up! and thanks for the pattern idea...I love the new wave quilt - glad you shared the link!!
How adorable!
Tempting to put all aside and 'whip' up one of these...
But alas, I have gifts to finish and miles to go before I sleep.
This has made it to the 'To Do' list... Need to save the pattern... Thank you for the link and the wonderful photos!
Thank you for the inspiration!
Gorgeous Julie!!! I love the color wave part of it too!
