A quilt for Aliyah

Before I moved to California, when I lived where it snowed in the winter, I sewed a quilt top for my niece, Aliyah, and blogged about it on my blog and over at Robert Kaufman's blog, the swatch and stitch.

And then I finally sent it off to Angela to work her magic on it and personalize it for Aliyah & gave it to her for her birthday this year!

If you look closely, you can see Aliyah's name in the bunting.

And I made a scrappy backing to finish it.

#ParkBenchQuilt - Finished quilts & blocks on design walls...

Early this year, my latest Block of the Month (BOM) design, Park Bench, hit stores, and I started a series of posts showing off the blocks you have been making of each design. Today's post is all about your finished tops and quilts!

I've been collecting pictures of blocks and quilts as quilters share them on Instagram. I'm loving how your tops and finished quilts are coming together and the fabrics you have chosen to make your quilt unique!

Of all of the posts I've shared from Instagram, which finished quilt are you enjoying the most? Which one has inspired you to start working on a Park Bench quilt? (Instagram user names are above the images in blue lettering.)

You can still post pictures of your blocks, top and finished quilt using #ParkBenchQuilt and you might find your work featured in a future blog post or on one of my social media pages.

Share which Instagrammer has inspired your Park Bench quilt or which block is your favorite in the comments! Thanks so much!

Glimmer Quilt

I'd like to introduce you to my latest quilt pattern, Glimmer. Glimmer is made using the Super Sidekick (click the link to the ruler to see the video tutorial on how to use it) and the pattern has 5 different project size options! You can make a mug rug, pillow, baby quilt, small and large lap size quilts.

All of Glimmer's 5 different sizes are made using the same number of pieces, only the size of the pieces change from project to project!

I've really enjoyed making each one of these 5 Glimmer quilts. It's been fun to see how the fabrics will play together as the stars start to come together.

Cover photo shoot outtakes:

Glimmer quilts went to Hawaii for the pattern cover photo shoot. The wind near the water was not our friend as we got started.

Lawrence was really worried that the quilts were going to fly away, so he stood guard.

Later that day we found this beautiful spot.

The light was great and we just kept playing with shooting from different angles and moving the quilts around from spot to spot and until we got the shot.

My assistant taking a break to enjoy the view..

I often wrap myself in the quilts when going from location to location to avoid getting creases in the quilts. Law snapped these photos of me wrapped up as we trekked along the beach.
Sometimes I wonder if people realize what they are actually seeing when we're out shooting quilts for cover photos... (like a brand new fabric line or a not yet released quilt pattern...) The quilt binding in this photo looks like a ponytail holder! Can you see it?

Initially, I photographed the pillow and mug rug with the Tula Pink Elizabeth baby Glimmer quilt.

Then I decided to photograph them with Park Bench since both use fabrics from the same designer.

And here's a few more shoots of the Downton Abbey baby Glimmer quilt hanging out her temporary NYC office, courtesy of Daryl Cohen from Andover.

The pattern is printed in full color, and it includes templates. Plus there's no Y seams!

Use the hashtag #GlimmerQuilt when you share photos of your Glimmer quilts with us on social media so we can share in the fun! Glimmer is available in shops now.

Do you have a favorite Glimmer quilt? Do you have any plans to make one of your own? Tell us about it in the comments below. Thanks!
