Happy new birthday

Yup, today is my new birthday. New you ask? You can read all the details in last year's post. I assume without facebook alerts to remind people that most people will forget. I had a good birthday last year for the first time in years & my family is already on board to switch it back. Not so fast I say! {In reality they didn't actually ask for my opinion... strange.}

Anyway, today is still when I've chosen to celebrate my birthday.

Yesterday I was reminded that I have the best friend a girl could ever dream of having. She's 3,000 miles away & doesn't forget my new birthday, sends an amazing card, and a book to help me cultivate my style. Now that's true friendship. Pannepacker, I love you.

I'm going to spend my birthday playing with fabric.
{Fabric from Marmalade Fabrics}

Playing with more fabrics.
{New Kona Solids by Robert Kaufman}

Sewing a quilt.

Lounging around the house with my quilts.
{Ditto in Simply Color by V&Co.}

Making some s'mores.

...and laughing at Amazon's recommendations for me.
Yes, Amazon suggested I buy my own book this week.
You can pre-order a copy in my shop. {and get a bonus!}

  1. Happy New Birthday :)

    So much fun in one post - what can be happier than smore making?! And your stack of fabrics are amazing. I'm jealous that you have all the new Kona solids, too. They look like great colors.

    And Amazon is too funny!

  4. My b-day is July 2, two days away from July 4, so most people have 4th of July plans that do not include an adult birthday party. So I have had to adjust and depending on which day of the week my birthday falls I started celebrating my birthday for an entire week! When I want to do something and then husband groans I remind him "It's my birthday week" and he just groans a little more and then does what I asked. lol

  9. Happy New Birthday! I remember last year's post and thinking I completely understand why you decided to switch! Coincidentally, it also happened to be the first post I commented on to you! I hope you have a fantastic day! My birthday is June 13 and this year I am going to spend it quilting as much as possible to finish up my to-do list before I start packing for our move in July!

  17. Happy Birthday, Julie! What a great day you have planned!
    Amazon is funny that way. I ordered a book from them last week & following the shipping notification email, I got another email suggesting I might like to purchase the same book!

  18. Happy New Birthday! That's hilarious about Amazon - at least you know they aren't using your personal information for background checks, just for marketing. :-)

  20. Happy bithday! Many members of my family have their birthday in the same month in midsummer (me too) when most people are away on holiday. At the time of my birthday I have usually eaten three birthday cakes in ten days with three more birthdays -and mine- to come within the next two weeks. During the last years the man of the house and I were on holiday on my birthday and spent it somewhere abroad. Nice.

  30. I was born on Nov. 27 which means that it often lands on Thanksgiving. My Gran always had a cake w a turkey on it. She thought it was cute. I thought it was stupid. I told mt husband 46 years ago to never give me a cake w a turkey. So we are still married w/o turkey cakes.

  33. I definitely understand changing your birthday. I think your date is worse than mine. I'm on December 20th and the last 63 years have been a real pain (I'm just a little older than you). When I was a kid they always said, "I'm giving you a bigger present since it is for your birthday and Christmas." Lies, all lies! I want a birthday when people aren't focused on another holiday, especially when it's God's birthday. You have inspired me. I think I'm going to celebrate on June 20th and I pity the family member who doesn't go along with it.
