I've got something fun to share with you today, check out this Stereo Quilt I made using Tula Pink's newest fabric line, Eden. I also used fabrics from Tula Pink's True Colors collection.
After some plotting and planning the layout and where I wanted each block to go, I started chain piecing.
There was a lot of fussy cutting that happened to make this quilt.
And there was even more fussy cutting. If you choose to make a Stereo quilt like this, you'll probably be best cutting from yardage or fat quarters rather than using the 10" squares that are the fabric requirements to make Stereo.
Perfect points matching up makes me happy.
The finished quilt top:
I used Tula Pink's Free Fall to back the quilt. Normally, I don't pre-wash my fabrics. Since this was one big piece of red fabric, I did pre-wash with Soak before I sent it off to be quilted.
I'm going to bind it in the grey lazy stripe from Tula Pink's True Colors collection.
Here it is as soon as it came home from the quilting spa, after Angela Walters worked her magic on it:

Want to make a lap size Stereo like mine? Here is what you will need. Please note that this is more than the 65 - 10" Squares listed on the pattern because of the creative fabric placement. I suggest getting FQs, 1/3 Yard cuts or 1/2 Yards cuts to do fussy cutting if you desire.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I would probably use it to make a lightweight quilt to use as a dedicated kennel cover for dog shows. My (female) dog and I compete in agility and obedience, and a bright and fun quilt like this would be perfect for her kennel.

I have made hexi and 60 degree quilts and just find the outcome wonderful. I have never tried tula pink's fabric lines and would consider fussy cutting as this would be a first for me. thanks for the information and happy quilting!

I've wanted this fabric collection even since I first saw it. I had originally planned on doing a bag or something I could use every day but this quilt is amazing! Maybe I would do something like this too!!

ReplyDeleteGreat quilt! I think Eden looks great in Stereo but would also be fun in Lotus or Chopsticks. It needs some space to show off the lovely prints. I would also do a mod/floating picture frame type quilt with Eden.

ReplyDeleteOh my Julie this is so beautiful. I was just in a quilt shop in Chicago area and they had a quilt using this same pattern. It looks awesome in any fabric. I would love to make it using Eden.

I am commenting on the Tula Pink Stereo quilt here because I looked over 20 minutes for a place on that site to leave it, hoping somehow I would find it. I love the quilt and the fabric. The one who wins is a very lucky person.

I love your use of Eden fabrics and it makes your Stereo pattern look even better. I would use it for the same but make it a bit larger if there is enough fabric. (Or I could buy some more fabric!)

I love your Stereo quilt! I would use the Eden fat quarter bundle to make a Stereo quilt. Backing would have to be polka dots!
ReplyDeleteLove how this turned out!!! Freefall is definitely a perfect backing - thank goodness Tula gave us all this option! I really want to make Tula's Butterfly pattern with Eden. It didn't do anything for me in Acacia, but WOWZA seeing it in Eden took my breath away!

I was thinking of making my Cascade pattern with Eden but after seeing how well it looks in Stereo I might need to reconsider. It's gorgeous! I get to see Tula this weekend at Fancy Tiger in Denver. Can't wait.
