Cameo sunshine Rose by Tanya Whelan might be my first choice, but of course that is scheduled to change depending on my mood the day I start it...
ReplyDeleteLove your selection of low volume text fabrics in your block. Something from Heather Ross might give this block a soft look. svonfumetti(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI can't decide on one fabric line, it would change in a nanosecond anyway. Love what you did, thanks for sharing and congrats for making the magazine.
ReplyDeleteI would most likely use the architextures that I have been hoarding. I really like the low volume look that you created.
ReplyDeleteFabulous block!
ReplyDeleteCan´t choose only one so I choose the last one I bought, marmalade.
I like the fabric you used!
ReplyDeleteI'd use some beautiful batiks from my stash. Neat idea of yours!
ReplyDeletethanks
I would use the new Alison Glass text prints and some coordinating Kona solids, mixing up the text prints so they go every direction. Thanks for the give away!
ReplyDeleteThe Botanics you used look so perfect, I'd have a hard time using anything else! If anything, I'd probably just add some other text type fabrics
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the bright yellows! I'd like to do something like that combination!
ReplyDeleteOh I love your block and the many ways to play with that you have shown - not sure exactly which fabrics I would use - but thinking I would raid my stack for some of those hoarded bundles of fabrics - I love the many looks of your block..
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.

The fabric you used is just fabulous, I wouldn't change it. Love your block!
ReplyDeleteI would follow you and use Architextures. That first block just drew me in.
ReplyDeleteI use fabric my stash. Great Block, congratulations on having it in the magazine. blaukat@hickorytech.net
ReplyDeleteThe architexture fabric is great the only other kind I might use is a fabric with words all over. They are sometimes hard to use! Hoping to receive a copy of the magazine!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure what I would use for this block. Your choice is beautiful! I would probably do something with pinks/browns as that is my fave right now. Thanks for a chance to win a copy of the magazine.
ReplyDeleteI would use Midwinter Reds by Minick & Simpson because I am in the Christmas spirit right now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance
I have a large stash so would use fabric from my stash.
ReplyDeleteI would use some blue and cream fabrics from my stash! Love your block. Very cool! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI love your block, simple yet very striking! Not sure what fabric I will use but I am definitely making this one into a quilt!
ReplyDeleteI have some black and whites - and then introduce a color maybe some green or yellow. I sew your block the very first day and fell in love. I am so going to have to go buy the issue Tuesday. kathleendotlutzatcomcastdotnet
ReplyDeleteI think I would use some of my collection of batik fabrics. I like the contrast between the neutrals & the brights...very nice!
ReplyDeletethis would be fun using light batiks - it's a great block and has a ton of potential. I could also see reversing it - using darker scraps for the pieced strips and lighter colors for the single-pieced strips.
ReplyDeleteThe Architextures is really cool. I might also try it with Ecclectic Elements for a more masculine look. This is a block I think my hubby would love!
ReplyDeleteShades of black and grey and a single purple shade
ReplyDeletecute block! i'd go with one of my mini charm packs like central park or wren & friends with some solids.
ReplyDeleteI love the mini charm packs, any would do for me!
ReplyDeleteI love the architextures, but I'd take the opportunity so use up some of the cream/beige/tan fabrics that have accumulated in my stash. Maybe pair them with some browns for a root beer float color story!
ReplyDeleteI would like using Kona solids. So pretty and so many shades to choose from. Congrats on getting your block in Quiltmaker 100 Issue #8 and thank you for chance to win !
ReplyDeleteI would use my stash and some solids. Love your block! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteassorted blacks and then strips of bright fabrics. looks like a great block to play with. thanks
ReplyDeleteI would make it with scrappy neutrals and darker strips from my stash. Cute block!
ReplyDeleteTorn between agf minimalista or windhamfabrics collage. Mix in kona solids and set! Nice block!
ReplyDeleteI like the gray and blues you used. 24Tangent@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI too would use Kona solids as they really set off the block motif.. particularly the one where you show the different bright colors.
ReplyDeleteI use alot of scrappy quilts- so a rainbow of colors would be my choice
ReplyDeleteI would make it with Barcelona so I'd have an excuse to go buy some!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, such a simple block, but so many possibilities. I think maybe Asian taupes for the background squares and indigos for the stripes.
ReplyDeleteI would probably make a scrappy quilt with a variegated black/gray fabric to provide some cohesion and unity.
ReplyDeleteI would use some orange and greys I think. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting published - I love your block! I think I'd have to go through my stash before making a decision on what to use but I love what you used! Thanks for the chance to win! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it would be very pretty done in cheerful 30's fabrics.
ReplyDeletehmmm, I wonder how it would look in reproduction fabrics?
ReplyDeleteVery cool ... I would have to use Sweetwater's Road 15 fabric line for this block ... kinda appropriate :) Julie I love your work and thank you so much for sharing your creativity!!

FINGERS CROSSED:-)
congrats on being published. This is a great block. So versatile. I would use blue solids and tan solids and sea shells for fabrics.
ReplyDeleteFirst congrats on getting into the 100 Blocks. I am new to quilting so I do not know a lot of the designers or designs. But I would make it in flowers and solids.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what fabric I would use. I think your block would work well in a Quilt of Valor, so I would make the stripes in red and white or just reds and the squares in blues and white, and then use the first configuration you show.
ReplyDeleteScrappy with neutral plaids and bright floral prints. Love the possibilities with this block. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI would use some Tula Pink fabric! carolann427@aol.com
ReplyDeleteJulie, I was hoping for a hexagon design, but that would take your neat ruler, so your design solved that problem. Right now I am using your ruler, not looking at new fabric. Kathy
ReplyDeleteFowl Play would make some fun runners and placemats using your block!
ReplyDeleteI would like to try this with squares of bright yellows from my stash and strips of black and grey solids.
ReplyDeleteBatiks! They are so easy to work with. I love your selection of fabrics. Sadly most of our quilt shops nearby have closed so it's tougher to pull fabrics.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I would use Scrumptious by Bonnie and Camille. Thanks for this chance.
ReplyDeleteI like the gray/neutral effect of your textures fabrics. I'd probably go with a light to medium gray print there and use solid or tone-on-tone purples and burgundy - rich, dark jewel tones.
ReplyDeleteGreat block - I'd love to make it in rainbow colours!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric you chose. It looks so nice in the linear style. I think black and white with red stripes or grey stripes would look great too.
ReplyDeleteGreat block! I would use the same fabric you did.
ReplyDeleteLove your block. I'd make mine really scrappy. Maybe with blues, greens & purples in my stash. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove your blue version.
ReplyDeleteSunkiss (out of print now) is a line of fabric I might use. I have layer cake and two fat eight collections of this line. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting into the magazine!
Some beautiful batiks!
ReplyDeleteI love your block! I think I would use some low volume scrap (as you did) and perhaps some floral designs for the strips.
ReplyDeletehildy(at)ebertzeder(dot)de
I'm not really sure what line I would use. I would probably make it scrappy, but keep it low volume colorwise, and then raise volume with sashing exactly as you did. The blue version is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the block. I'm thinking black, white, red and a little yellow thrown in.
ReplyDeleteHaving seen how you use Architextures for Robert Kaufman, it makes me want to try Tim Holtz's new line, Eclectic Elements.
ReplyDeleteI would use scraps from my stash. I love seeing the possibilities for the block--lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteI would dig out my scraps for this block, bright colors, maybe a different color for each block, and then use black and grey for the stripes.
ReplyDeleteI'm a flower and vintage pattern person, so I'd likely use one of them. I don't yet have the creative intuition, but I will. Love the block anyway. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI like your fabric choices a lot--but I think I might use batiks in mostly blue and aqua.

ReplyDeleteI would use Chicopee!

array-dawn@cox.net
Great block, Julie. I can not decide on a fabric line I would choose but when I first saw your block I thought of light batik scraps that I have. Paired with some jewel tone blender batiks instead of the solids and I think your block would create a knockout quilt.
ReplyDeleteI would choose a small bundle from Tula Pink and some Kona Solids and try to make a quilt block that was a nice as your sample!
ReplyDeleteoh that's hard. I think I might go bolder/scrappy where you have the neutral, and neutral in the stripes...
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of Kona Jelly strip rolls that I would use - I could combine that with my two Simply Style charm packs, too! Voila!
ReplyDeleteI love the rainbow solids and the fabric you used. Maybe some kiddie prints, and solids, to make a fun I Spy style quilt?
ReplyDeleteI would make one like your primary colors, zig zag quilt, but I think I would do the space between the yellow bar, green bar, etc in different light shades of same primary color. It would bring out the chevron pattern.
ReplyDeleteKona cotton in black, white and red.
ReplyDeleteI would use a combination of Kona Solids and Carnaby Street!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what fabrics I would use, but I love your block and your examples. The 3rd quilt design really strikes me. I think doing a quilt using solids would be great! I also like the combination of red and tan and think that would work great for your 1st design. I am a reall fan of scrappy quilts so maybe a scrappy red and tan. Nancy: rangerer@sbcglobal.net

ReplyDeleteI think this would look really nice with some patterned Batiks mixed solids
ReplyDeleteI think that this would look cute with Halloween fabric. Like Too Cute Too Spook by RBD.
