Raspberry Dessert

Anyone hungry?  I hope not because I'm talking about this quilt & not food!
Details
Fabric is Quilter's Linen by Robert Kaufman
Pattern - Raspberry Dessert
Designed by me
Quilted by Angela Walters
Started on 11/8/10
Finished on 1/1/11
Quilt measures - 76.5" x 76.5"

This quilt is in the May/June issue of Quiltmaker Magazine.
If you are a subscriber you'll see it showing up in your mailbox any day now.  It'll hit newsstands in about two weeks.  When that happens I'll have a few copies in my shop as well.

Here is the cover

Here is a flat shot of the quilt from the magazine.

Quiltmaker also recently started a new program called QM Scrap Squad.  "Quiltmaker's Scrap Squad is an enthusiastic team of eight Quiltmaker readers who are making scrappy versions of one pattern from each new issue of Quiltmaker."  QM Scrap Squad's second glorious project is due to be revealed today... and rumor has it that they made my Raspberry Dessert quilt!!  I'm excited to see it in all different colors.

I started this quilt in PA and shipped the finished top to Angela in MO.
Then I flew to Los Angeles to help out my family & she shipped the quilt to LA for me to add the binding.  This was the first project I finished in 2011, early in the morning on new year's day.

Enjoy the yummy photos... because if I had been at home all you would see is photos from inside the house... because there was snow everywhere! (I'm really thinking about moving to LA after seeing these photos...)

Detail on the back

Playing with my brother's camera...

My label pieced into the back

On a random note...
The colors of the quilt inspired the name, but I can't stand to eat raspberries or anything raspberry flavored!!

  8. I love the flavor of raspberry, but can't stand biting into the seeds! Still, this quilt is gorgeous but it is so not fair of you to show it to those of us who have chosen to do without sweet yummy things during Lent! This one is just too delicious!

  9. So pretty! Do you do your own quilting at the end or do you send it out? I don't know anyone in town here who has a quilting machine but some of the ladies from my craft night are looking into it. This is another one to add to my future list of to-dos! Thanks for sharing.

  19. I loved working on this pattern! I was quite excited when QM told me my next project was going to be one of yours, your patterns are all so fresh and fun. I love that you piece your labels into your quilts. I do this as well and I've received much grief over the years for this habit of mine.
    Cheers,

  30. Love this design Julie. Your patterns challenge folks to get a little out of their comfort zone beyond simple quilts. This is such a good example of color and value and how that really carries the design. Oh and if you moved to LA bet you could find a like minded quilting group here too! Its sunny and 70 today.

There are definitly some pluses to LA over Pennsylvania. My brother-in-law moved from Pittsburg to LA a few years ago and said it was the best thing he'd done!
