  1. I love reading posts like this on color theory. I read one on value one time and I was like "Oh, that explains it!" I think a lot of people tend to love a fabric so much they are committed to using it even though if they played around a bit they would find something they might not like as much by itself works better in the design. I have learned stuff like that from my mistakes...wish I had taken more art classes in college like my art history professor urged!

  2. Wow, i learned a lot in that little post. Picking out fabric is one of my least favorite things to do. I love fabric, I love looking at it in stores, but as soon as it comes to picking it out for a projects I am stumped and frustrated. But it is my goal to learn more about doing it. Thanks!

  3. I enjoyed your discussion of color theory - you are a very good teacher! I ordered your Firecracker pattern last night from Wondrous Wovens, and look forward to making it as my next project. Thanks.

  4. Great post Julie! Thanks for all of the great info on color & design. Its amazing how the different values of the back ground fabric can change the look of the quilt. I might have to break out of my dark back ground routine & try something different.

  5. Great post! I know absolutely NOTHING about color theory or how to pick colors. I have been thinking of going back to school part time after my youngest son goes to kindergarten (sniff, sniff) in the Fall. Maybe I should take a color theory class, hmmmm. Thanks for getting my wheels turning :)

  7. Great post! I love colour and picking fabrics for quilts, this year I am making an effort to get out of my comfort zone and use colours I wouldn't normally choose.
