one fish... two fish... green fish... quilt?

I've got another quilt in a magazine!
Celebrate with Dr. Seuss is featured in the Nov/Dec Issue of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting

it's on page 36!
and i have a few copies in the shop

it's a fun quilt that goes together pretty quickly.
a panel + a few solids + a few prints
the kona cotton solids i used are tomato, canary & white
i decided to make the "frames" a bit wonky in the spirit of dr. seuss books

details
fabric is cat in the hat & celebrate seuss for robert kaufman
pattern - Celebrate with Dr. Seuss
designed by me
quilted by me
started on 7/1/10
finished on 7/11/10
quilt measures - 56.5" x 66.5"

i auditioned a few fabrics for binding...
but in the end i went with the classic red & white stripe

the back is scrappy using mainly these 2 prints

you would think by now i'd be getting used to seeing my face...
nope!  i still get giddy like a kid every time!

and...

  7. I purchased the Dr. Seuss fabric the week it rolled out. Then yesterday I bought the magazine.. What a great surprise!! I had to look twice, because you are jaybird in my mind and that was hidden in the magazine. A happy surprise I might add. This will be the pattern I use for my Dr. Seuss, I had been looking around. Love yours!

  24. Congratulations, so very cute. I just made my self a skirt out of all the fabrics. I teach first grade and my kids loved the skirt. If I am wearing the skirt, then we get to study a different Dr Seuss book that day. I am going to have to make this quilt. Thanks for the inspiration.

  27. I just love the Dr Seuss fabrics and your quilt. It's all your fault that I had to go out and spend money to get that magazine. LOL I HAD to get the quilt pattern you created.

Of course, getting near all the sewing, embroidery, and quilting magazines was very dangerous for my checkbook because I went to Barnes & Noble where they have tons of those types. I think I heard my checkbook groan a bit even. HAHA
