I witnessed the 2nd no-hitter in playoff history.
Those who know me... know I'm a big time baseball fan
My parents have season tickets & as a result had tickets for the game last night. On Monday my dad and I start talking about the playoffs and he asks me "I wonder how much tickets are going for on StubHub." I went to the computer & figured I'd check. We clicked on the section where my parents tickets were and there were a few tickets available. A closer look showed that two tickets were available in the same row directly next to my parents. I thought about it for all of a minute before I decided to buy them. Little did I know that I was buying tickets for playoff history. I've been to a few playoff games in recent years but hadn't been to one with my parents since 1993.
It rained..
It was cold..
I have no voice...
but it was amazing.

I don't know how they got 46,411 people in the ballpark!

After the game they played Harry Kalas singing "High Hopes" and the entire ballpark sang along with him. Harry is watching over our phils!

even with all the added tv timeouts the game took only 2 hours and 34 minutes!
No way!! I can't believe you were at the game last night! Jon and I watched the end of it on TV and then sadly watched the Twins lose to the Yankees (again)... hopefully the next few days will be good for both teams!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you! There is nothing like a play-off game when your beloved home-town team is playing. And a NO-HITTER too. Amazing. This post season was looking dim for me as my team is not in it and only AL teams that I don't like are in it. I will now cheer for your Phillies. See you soon.
ReplyDeleteYou know, a couple years ago Quilt Market fell exactly the same time as the World Series when my team was in it. Talk about mixed priorities!!!!

We're a baseball family too...unfortunately the Angels decided to take a year off after 6 playoff appearances. But Halladay was amazing! I'll cheer for the Phillies this year! (My verification word is boast...lets hope you can the next month!)

ReplyDeleteHow amazing that you got to witness that! A no-hitter in the playoffs! DH and I are big baseball fans and went to the Brewers playoff games a few years ago (what few there were!) The Phillies killed us then, but I won't hold that against you. : ) Fall baseball is so exciting - add a no-hitter into the mix and it must have been over-the-top.
ReplyDeleteLots of Phillies fans here in Hawaii, too, but so happy you got to see it live! Why are we Phillies fans- 2 words-Shane Victorino! Since we have no pro sports teams, we tend to follow the teams of any of our local boys!

ReplyDeleteMy husband is the biggest baseball fanatic I know. He's played, coached, managed, watched, and loved it all of his life. I really could use your expertise in translating quilt stuff (like a quilt going to Market) into baseball-ese.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on going to the game- the hubby was there when the Astros were in the World Series and the game went soooo many innings. Good memories for sure.
What a great experience! As Toronto Blue Jays fans knew RH is an Ace among aces. His year has been remarkable. Hope the rest of the post season is good for the Phillies fans as well.

ReplyDeleteOMG!! I thought of you during game and wondering if you were there. I remembering reading your blog one time about you being a Philles Fan. We are all athletes/fans in this house. College tennis, college football (son) and my other son hopefully will play college baseball. He's going to a huge tournament this weekend in FT Myers. We live an hour N of the Tampa Bay Rays!! (who stunk yesterday!) Congrats on being part of HISTORY!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm all a big time baseball fan and as a stay at home mommy I kept TBS on all day to watch all the playoff games until my Yanks came on later that night (and beat the Twins!). The game was awesome and while I hope the Phillies lose, at least Halladay will go down in the books for that performance! Glad you got to go see it in person!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE baseball!! How exciting for you last night...I was watching most of it in my NE Ohio home and I literally screamed out loud on the last out! I even got tears for Halladay! Better still is that they beat Cincinnati...one of our arch rivals....at least in football. And the Browns just happened to beat them this past Sunday.

ReplyDeleteWhat a game! I watch the Phillies for my parents who went to games in the old Shibe Park when they were courting and were lifelong fans. My Dad died in 1980 before the Phils won their first World Series, and my mom died in 2008 before they won their second. But I'm sure they watch the games from great seats! Go Phillies!

Thanks for sharing that with us. It is one thing to here something like this on the sports channels or sport newscast, but your account was so personal. Something that you will always remember. I was a child when the Tigers won the world series in 1968 and my dad took us downtown Detroit for the celebration. It was great! I will always remember that time.

I am jealous! Us losers in Utah are not anywhere near a pro baseball team. And I am no where near my team (The Braves) been a huge fan since I was like 15. Even have a big A on the back of my car. I listened to that game on the radio and it was even awesome just on there. So glad you got to be there!
