breakdown.. or breakthrough

so while driving this morning i heard an interview on the radio with
Kelly Cutrone
and it stuck with me.
while in most cases i can't list 3 songs i heard by the time i get out of the car.
{bad short term memory over here...}

anyway...

she was promoting her new book....

so why did it stick with me.
this one line...

sometimes a breakdown is really a breakthrough

repeat it to yourself.
out loud.

i don't blog about "life" often
cause i don't have kids
or a husband & all that.

but i think this one line
can pertain to quilting.
kids.
work.
and just about anything in life.

so the next time i have a breakdown.. like after sewing a whole lot of blocks wrong.. i'm gonna look at it as a breakthrough.. and make a whole new quilt

;-)

{photos will be added to yesterday's post later today...}

  2. Yes, that a wonderful way to think..."a smile is just a frown turned upside down." (I added to my list of things to think about later)

  3. Great way to look at it! I'll think about this before I rip out my next seam . . .

  4. :)

    I like that line.

    FWIW -- I think I was more interesting before I had the hubs and babe. But I do put the little one on my blog because most of my real life friends aren't quite so in to quilting as I... IYKWIM. ;)

  5. I had a breakdown/breakthrough this morning at 2:30 am when I was finishing up my siggy blocks. You are right, it can apply to quilting and everything else. I love what you write about. I try to mention my family as little as possible, unless it relates to quilting. Keep on inspiring!

  6. This is SO true! And something that is becoming clearer to me as I get older....

    There is a reason for everything, even the "bad" things we go through. AND there is something to take away from or learn from every experience. (and usually the most is learned from the biggest tests...)

    Thanks for making us think!

  10. I need to tattoo that on my forehead - backwards - so I read it every time I look in the mirror.
    THANKS!

  12. Remind me of this when I am in the fetal position in a corner bawling my eyes out because I am failing as a parent, after your niece comes. I know I will have this moment again, especially when there are two of them to fail at once.

  13. I listened to that too and was struck by that phrase. It's a good way of reframing challenges. I need to carry it with me.

    Oh and after the guild meeting on Saturday, I met someone who knows you!

  16. I'm going to be totally honest here. I have a lot of moments like this. You know, cuz my life is a little crazy sometimes. :) But it helps to know, that I'm not alone.
