browsers

quick question...
what browser do you use?

i recently was looking at the statistics from Google Analytics

and for my blog...

Internet Explorer - 58.72%
Firefox - 26.28%
Safari - 11.33%
Chrome - 2.87%
Other - 0.8%

I use Chrome 95% of the time... and Firefox the other 5%...
I never use internet explorer anymore...

so i was surprised...

what browser do you use... and why?

  1. I use Firefox because it doesn't crash, isn't virus prone and has great add-ons.

I'm surprised by the number who use IE on my blog too!

  2. I used IE for years but kept having issues with it. I switched to Firefox months ago and I LOVE it! I've not had one single problem since I started using it. :0)

  3. I've never even heard of Chrome!

I use Safari at work, Firefox at home.

  4. I use Firefox at work because that and IE are the only two browsers our work supports from a security standpoint. When I'm at home, I use Safari.

  5. Firefox because it connects correctly to my bill-paying accounts. Really, 2 accounts said they new Safari did not do that! I'm Apple/Mac

  6. I use only Firefox. Mainly because we don't support Microsoft in our house. Everything is Linux and open-source software..:))) Very surprised by your statistics. I am sure my look the same though... :(

  8. I use IE only. We tried Firefox at work and had issues. IE isn't perfect, but their support has worked out any problems I've had.

  9. I use Firefox. I use to use Netscape and then moved to Firefox. I have never really been an IE user.

  10. Firefox because of the addons. I used to use chrome, because it is neat, clean, and simple.

  11. I use IE, but have considered changing because I'm having more and more problems with it. Thanks for posting this question. Now I know I'm not the only one having issues with IE.

  12. I only use firefox. I loathe IE, the top part is far to cluttered for my liking. I've been using firefox for years and I will never go back. I always got script errors on IE no matter what I tried, Firefox is also a lot faster than IE.

I did try Chrome and didn't like it one bit. I really tried to but I couldn't do it.

  13. I use internet explorer...um...because...I just do I guess...

  14. I use IE... because I am lazy... I have used them all at one time or another including Opera but I am just too lazy to bother now LOL

  15. I use IE8. I am a PC (not MAC). I use to like Netscape, but as a computer consultant the majority of clients used IE. Also, as a MicroSoft Certified Partner, we support a number of MS Programs, so it is simplier.

  16. I love chrome! I have a IE app in Chrome, so anything not compatible just gets opened in that, no need for IE at all or firefox@

  17. Firefox. I'm all about the add-ons. There are things I like about Chrome, but I haven't gotten around to using the add-on-esque things over there.

  18. Firefox, why? Because my hubby said to:) He is the computer geek so I believe whatever he says about computers. If he said that computers could fly, I would probably believe him. ( i love my guy :)

  19. I use Firefox. I've never tried Chrome or Safari and I just like the way firefox works over explorer! :)

  20. Firebox...hubby won't let me download Chrome until he's sure Google isn't doing anything crazy with it (the initial reports were sort of scary, tracking all of your movements, etc).

    But unfortunately, IE @ work.

  21. I love Firefox! I use to have soooo many problems with IE!! I almost threw my computer at the wall! Luckily a friend told me about Firefox! I love it! Now I need to get my husband to use it on his computer!

  22. IE at home and work. I have no choice at work but thinking of maybe trying FireFox. Maybe I'll download it tonight. Those comments above about the add-ons are making me curious!

  23. Safari since it preloaded on my new iMac but I am missing Firefox and will probably go back.

  24. I use Firefox because I use another Mozilla tool (Zotero) to organize all my references/resources for my dissertation research.

  25. I used Firefox 100% of the time up until a few days ago. For some reason my (all) photos started looking off in Firefox but looked better in Safari, so now I'm splitting time between the two. (I'm on a MacBook).

I am surprised by the abundance of IE users still... hmm.

  26. I use IE mainly because it was the one I started with I guess! I've never really had any problems with it. I have used Firefox and had no trouble but didn't see any great advantage either. I also use IE at work so it just seems easier to be consistent. I'm not sure my brain needs any more overloading!

  27. Well, I'm an IE user, too. Used to love Netscape, but had issues with web pages loading correctly and was convinced that IE was the only one that would work correctly. Stupid sheep, I know. From reading the comments, maybe I should try Firefox...would be interested to learn more about Chrome. Off to do some reserach!

  28. I use Chrome a tad more than you. It's the best! My default is IE.

    ReplyDelete
  29. IE....because it is there, and I've never hated it....don't know really. Maybe it's time for a change???

  30. Firefox! Because IE makes me crazy the way it interprets some of my html.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I use Chrome pretty much exclusively. I haven't used IE in forever.

  32. I used to use Firefox, but then my computer's hard-drive fried, so I started using my hubby's computer. For some reason Firefox freezes when you have more than 1 tab open (annoying), so I'm using IE. I don't like it, but it doesn't freeze.

  33. At school I use Firefox. It is what we have. I've never even heart of Chrome.

LOL - I don't even know what mine is at home!

  34. Changing to Firefox solved all my problems I was having with IE and so I've stayed with it and been happy ever since. Its very interesting to hear what others are saying...great question!

  35. All about Firefox. Safer, and much less of a resource hog than IE. You couldn't pay me to switch back.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I currently use Firefox only, but my husband is about to replace my laptop with a Mac so I will likely use Safari soon.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Firefox all the way. I tried Chrome months ago and switched back because I didn't like it. I can't even remember what I didn't like about it. I heard recently that it's supposed to be much faster than the others.

  38. I use IE because that's what's on my laptop. Generally I don't havfe any problems but maybe I'll give firefox a whirl. I tried Chrome but didn't stick with it.

  39. i used IE for years...liked it fine. But recently we received an email from our internet provider saying Firefox worked so much faster with their service. We switched to Firefox and I like this fine, too. I can tell that it is a bit faster. Which is good.

  40. I have been using IE simply because I couldn't use my employer's platform (I work from home) with anything else. I actually tried and liked Chrome, but didn't want to have to switch back and forth. Because of your post, I just realized I switched employers a few months back and no longer have to stick with IE! So, I just downloaded Firefox and even added on the colored tabs and I LOVE it! I already did the same for one of the laptops and the old computer downstairs that our son uses. Firefox seems to load pages faster - and the old computer needs all the help it can get. Thanks for the poll! Put me down as a Firefox user!

  41. I use Firefox ~ at home & at work. I downloaded Chrome, only used it a couple of days till I went back to what I knew.

  42. firefox for sure! Love the GESTURES feature... and how stable it is. I rarely use IE any more either.
    Cheers!

  43. Safari! Only. Dont laugh but I use it because thats what came on my MAC. I works find so why bother with another. Plus I like some of there new updates. like the button that shows me which pages I used the most and I and just click on them. Poof they're there.

  44. Firefox all the way (although I am considering giving Chrome a tryout). I used it all the time at work just because I liked it, and at home for the same reason.

I ended up having to convince Alex to switch to it from IE because every time we tried to go to a Google property on his computer via IE it would bounce to Bing (I looked this up and apparently it's happened to a number of people and I think there really must be some sort of actual law against this)!

  45. Firefox. I use IE only for those important websites that don't format successfully for Firefox. I don't like IE...clunky.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Interesting post! I use Firefox- just because. No good reason.

  47. My son got me to use FireFox years ago because of security issues with IE.
I do love all the add-ons and tabs with FF.

  49. Oooh, I like techy questions - I'm a total geek!

Firefox 99.9% of the time because it's open source. I also use IE for hotmail, because it seems to work better in that. Plus chrome for one specific website because it's a lot faster.

  50. I use Firefox (used Safari until last month). At work, I use IE because that's all they have on our computers. They also won't let us download anything on them (not even a stinkin' font), so I'm stuck with IE. And it causes me great pain.

  51. I jump - - Safari, IE, Firefox - depending on where I am and what I'm doing.
Chameleon girl rite now - - - how does this help you?

  52. I'm currently using flock. It has a groovy 'people' toolbar that shows my friends on FB, Twitter, and flickr. I blog with it, upload media with it, I love it!!

  53. I use Chrome now, but was a Firefox user. I like both of these, but I think IE is prone to problems and viruses. We had more problems before Firefox. I am glad there is something besides IE out there! I am liking Chrome, but still getting used to it.
