kindergarten quilt done

remember this post?

well i have one of the 3 quilts done!!

i still have 2 to go {by mondayish}

but back to this one...

i decided to do pebble quilting
you know.. like this...

do you know that it takes forever??
i spent more time quilting this bad boy than piecing it!

i was inspired by alissa's blog, flickr and other people...

and

i went denser.. big mistake in time management.

amanda jean posted about used 18 bobbins
which i thought was crazy... till i used 18..
on a 50x50 quilt!! {hers was bigger}

that shrunk of 46x46 after washing..

but

it was worth it after washing...

look at the texture

i even took the time to use my scraps on the back to add a coin strip.. and this was where i incorporated my label..

so in the end i love this little one... but boy was it a lot more work than i thought it was gonna be!!

she is safely at the shop getting ready for the oaks, pa show... the shop will be selling kits at the show... if you are interested e-mail me... if they don't sell out at the show they will be available in store and mail order after it!

so have you ever done pebble quilting?

  3. I loved it on my little water bottle holder. I'm gong to do it on my huge nine patch quilt! I just need to get the back done.

Those pebbles made your quilt so wonerful - it looks super cozy!

  5. I just tried pebble quilting on a practice square this weekend (doll size) and though THAT took forever and used a lot of thread... I can't imagine a whole quilt.

  6. Woohoo! I love this one! The pebble quilting does give it lots of texture.

I am going to try pebble quilting on my next project. Wish me luck because I am not sure that I have the patience for 18 bobbins worth of thread!

    XOXO!

  7. Looks Wonderful! I'm about to start a few baby quilts and this one looks soo cute for that purpose. If my current pattern leavves me wanting I just might look at this pattern. Thanks for the inspiration!

  12. Hi Julie ! LOVE that quilt and LOVE your blog (and your Moda Bakeshop projects !!)

Thanks so much for the offer to sit and sew with you the next time I need somewhere to kill some time in Philly ..... yes, I'm the "worried Mom" of the teenagers who drove to the concert at Penn's Landing the other night (which they got to and back home without any problems .... phew!)

Also, I was wondering where the quilt shop is where you work ....only because when I'm in Philly I'm always on the lookout for a good quilt shop .... I've heard about Spool on South St but haven't been there yet.

Thanks again !! and maybe we'll run into each other one of these days!

  13. The quilt and the quilting look great! I love the look of pebble quilting - but the thought of using 18. bobbins. of. thread. scares me too much. lol

  14. I love it! I used to want to try pebble quilting but I'm kind of afraid to because I'd spend so much time and thread on it!

  16. Ohhh! It looks fabulous! Yes, the quilting takes a looooong time, but I love the look of dense quilting, and after washing - yummmmmy! Can't wait to see how the next two look!

  17. Totally worth the time/effort! It looks great! But I'm guessing the other two will be quilted more quickly :)

  18. It came out so cute, I love the colors! You are obviously much better at bobbins than I am. An empty bobbin usually results in cussing, frustration and me throwing something, I certainly couldn't handle 18 of them. I really love the coin strip it came out so cute!

  19. I've only done stitch-in-the-ditch on four quilts and tied the rest. After I tentatively branch into stippling one of these days, then maybe I'll try the pebble look. It's a lovely texture!

  20. Never heard of pebble quilting, but love it! I'll try and master stippling first though lol. I would be interested in the pattern for that quilt, can we just purchase the pattern and not the whole quilt?
And no kidding, my word verification is "sucksa" lol
