Quiltmaker's Parade of Homes

As I settled in to write this post, I realized I haven't shared some news on the blog yet. If you follow me on social media, you probably already know this, but we recently moved into a new house we purchased early this year!

And here it is in fabric!

I used Blueprint Basics by Valori Wells + metallic quilter's linen from Robert Kaufman.

Quiltmaker asked me to participate in their Parade of Homes *just* as we were about to put an offer in on our home. I tried so hard not to make the connection or say it out loud to anyone, I didn't want to jinx it! But it must have been good luck to agree to the project, because we got the keys to the house just 2 weeks later.

This block was one of the first projects I sat down to sew in the new home. I just had to incorporate some of our new home's features into my fabric version, like our blue front door.

Since this is a Southern California house, the sky is blue, and since we hadn't started landscaping yet, there's no grass in the front yard.

The block was fun and easy to sew together. It is Lori Holt’s Home Sweet Home block that is featured in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, vol. 8.

And you can find my block featured in the Sept/Oct issue of Quiltmaker's Parade of Homes.

And you can win my block, too! Check out the Quilty Pleasures Blog today to find out how.

What fabric features would you add to your Home Sweet Home block to make it more like your home? Tell us about them in the comments below. Thanks!

#ParkBenchQuilt Block 3 - Hopscotch

Early this year, my latest Block of the Month (BOM) design, Park Bench, hit stores, and I've started a series of posts showing off the blocks you're making of each design. Each of the blocks is named for favorite memories and moments in parks. Block 3 is Hopscotch. The path from outside of the block into the center looks so good for some Hopscotch jumping!

I've been collecting pictures of blocks as quilters have been sharing them on Instagram. I'm loving how your blocks are coming together and the fabrics you pick to make your quilt unique.

Have you ever been a part of a BOM group or shop program? Do you think you would like to try one now?
Post pictures of your blocks, top and finished quilt using #ParkBenchQuilt and you might find your work featured in a future blog post.

Do you have a favorite hopscotch in a park moment?

#ParkBenchQuilt Block 2 - Ball Game

Early this year, my latest Block of the Month (BOM) design, Park Bench, hit stores, and I've started a series of posts showing off the blocks you're making of each design. Each of the blocks is named for favorite memories and moments in parks. Block 2 is Ball Game. The 4-part diamonds remind of the bases on a baseball diamond.

I've been collecting pictures of blocks as quilters have been sharing them on Instagram. It's so much fun to see your blocks come together and the fabrics you pick to make your quilt unique.

Why do you love being a part of a BOM group or shop program? Or, why do you prefer working on a Park Bench quilt on your own?
Post pictures of your blocks, top and finished quilt using #ParkBenchQuilt and you might find your work featured in a future blog post.

Do you have a favorite ball game in a park moment?
