Pennies from Heaven

In July last year I blogged about discovering a familiar quilt on the bag for the Long Beach Quilt Festival. The quilt is called "Pennies from Heaven" and is the work of the very talented Gretchen Gibbons. Gretchen & I used to work at a local quilt shop together and I've had the opportunity to learn from her as well. You can check out Gretchen's website.

Earlier this year Gretchen shared exciting news with me that her quilt was getting published into a book! I'm sure the wait seemed like forever for Gretchen but her book is finally here!

Pennies from Heaven: Celebrated Quilt and Companion Projects
published by That Patchwork Place / Martingale & Co.

At market I got to see a sneak peek of it in print!

Gretchen's quilt also made the journey to market and was on display.

Here is more info on Gretchen's new book.
Pennies from heaven is available now!
Here is a detail shot. Gretchen mixes wool appliqué on cotton to get this look!

I'm excited to get my signed copy from Gretchen's Shop!

What a fabulous quilt! It's so dimensional -- do my eyes deceive me or does she mix some felt in there with the cotton fabrics? Love the textures. This book's going on my wish list! On my way to her website, now.

I love that quilt and I love working with wool, it does add a whole new dimension to a quilt.
