i made mine out of hushabye... because you all know i love tula pink!
you can get a kit in hushabye from Elkhorn Quilt Company... Debbie is a sweetheart that i met at the long beach quilt festival... stop by and say hi...

for quilting i did a loopy design and used brown thread on the top & bottom...

i also made a scrappy binding for the quilt... while it takes a bit longer it is a nice way to use scraps and looks great!
the outside pieces create secondary pinwheels... by changing fabric placement you can make them the focus...
here is a sample made out of Simple Abundance...

so far i have 9 blocks cut and on my design wall.
i'm not sure if i'm going to stop here and make a table topper or keep going and make a large quilt...
leave me a comment and let me know what you think I should do!

The quilt is gorgeous!!! And I love the Hushabye collection! Perfect :)
ReplyDeleteI was waiting up tonight for this...The Simple Abundance one reminds me os a tessellating star quilt I made once... hair raising but worth it. I say go for at least a lap quilt size.
ReplyDeleteReally nice pattern, thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt & the quilting is lovely as well
ReplyDeleteHugs Janice
Oh, wow! What a neat quilt... I'll think I'll have to pay attention to what I'm doing but it is such an original. Kudos to you and your creativity! I'd make a quilt with your simple abundance!
ReplyDeletesuch a cute pattern! Thanks for sharing! I would go for a quilt size because just love the fabrics you use on your design wall!
ReplyDeleteGenius! Why not make both? :)
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt! I tend to go towards larger quilts. But it depends if you would like a smaller one or not. Hmmmm... what to do?
ReplyDeletethe candy box quilt is adorable in Hushabye...and you should keep going on the pinwheels...it would be great to see these quilts next to each other!! They will look so different!!
ReplyDeletei say do whatever your heart says, if you are tired stay there, if you are ambitious go for the gold!! very pretty, great job!!
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial! I really love the pieced binding. Simple abundance is so pretty, it would be a nice table topper if you're getting tired of making the same block.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great reminder though, that changing just a couple colors in a quilt design can result in something totally new. Love those pinwheels!
so unexpected, this quilt and so FABULOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteseriously you must march on with those pinwheels in a larger quilt so I can see how you position them!
very good Julie!
Well, I love your tutorial. Many thanks. I think that you should finish this sample. It is fun that the same pattern can have 2 effects..very creative, I say!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Now I have to add another quilt to my to do list!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love the pinwheels. I agree with Stacey follow your heart!
ReplyDeleteI think a table topper would be gorgeous. But, then again, a quilt would be too. Go for the tabel topper!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful! great work!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun quilt design. I would go for a quilt with the abundance fabric.
ReplyDeleteit turned out awesome! love it!
ReplyDeleteReally cute!! I would go for a throw size :)
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt! I would make the pinwheel one large too.
ReplyDeletePretty! Go for a big quilt. Maybe a lap size to show off those yummy fabrics!
ReplyDeleteVery Cute Julie! And bigger is always better where quilting is concerned (well, except maybe for block sizes...)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool tutorial! Very creative and fun. I can't wait to make one! Thank you for your great MBS additions...yours always go to the top of my list!
ReplyDeletei say you should make a HUGE quilt and then send it to me.
